well, as being new, I feel this irrepresable urge to come up with something so here I go :)

Okay, right now I am reading Stephen King's "Everythings Eventual", and have fallen in love with the story "Everythings Eventual". Has anyone read it? I think the idea that someone would sell their talent for what they feel they're worth is so realistic, and everything about the idea is just so...complex and awesume I get.

I'm new to this community so I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Mithvingiel but most people just call me Mith as it's easier to remember and spell! I'm 15 years old and live in the UK.

Um, don't what else to say really LOL!

Uh...I consider myself to be quite a scary geek in many different ways. My interests(which I can become quite obssessed with) vary from books, to movies, to music, to just lazying around in my room(of which I'm very fond of). No matter what people say to you I AM nice person really!

Well, I hope to make some friends here. Hopefully, that is.

It is a great time to be a geek.

Seriously, it is. Take a good look over the last couple of years.

Depending on how far back you go, it started with Harry Potter. J. K. Rowling's creations were the first unquestionably fantasy books accepted and praised by society at large since 'Lord of the Rings'. Then came the films. The Harry Potters and, more notably, the Lord of the Rings have not just been successfully, but have won some of the most prestigious awards in the film world. And let's not forget 'Spider Man', 'X-Men' 1 and 2, 'The Hulk', 'Hellboy', the upcoming John Constantine flick, the 'Matrix' trilogy, 'Pirates of the Caribbean', and many, many others.

Even gaming is going through a sort of a Renaissance. In 2000, D&D released 3rd Edition, which drastically changed the face of the game while drawing in a whole new generation of gamers (myself included). The computer game industry is off the charts, and the trading card game world is vastly expanding (if suffering in quality).

Things are changing in the world. Where the jock ruled the 50's, and the punk ruled the 90's, the geek is rising up to rule the 00's...

It is a beautifulthing...

Alright, Ko_er has brought to my attention a startling trend. That is, the world of Magic: The Gathering has beet taking a startling turn for the worse over the last few years. Anyone who is moderately familar with the game long term has seen this slide into beardyness (beardy= against the spirit of the game, cheap).

If you don't know what I'm talking about, take this example.

Lord of the Pit: 4th edition, 1995 8 manna, 7/7, sacrifice a creature every turn or suffer 7 damage.

Slaglands Worm: Mirridon, 2004 8 manna, 9/9, cannot be affected by any spells or ability opponent controls.

I don't know about you, but that is just crap. It seems to me that Wizards of the Coast is running out of ideas, and so they are throwing whatever they can think of, no matter how stupid.

Please, expand upon this

(Note: for those of you non-gamers, don't be discouraged. Just bring up a topic, and we will surely give it credence)

Welcome, welcome to the Empire.

I'm hoping that your entrance will attract others, and they will attract more, and we will eventualy have an empire fit for, well, an emperor.

Until then, we will just have to bide our time and talk to ourselves, which really isn't much of a change for me.
